Thankful

I woke up.
I have clothes to wear.
I have running water.
I have food to eat.
Life is good.
I am thankful.

Regret

Regret. It is a common yet immensely powerful emotion experienced by everyone.

But, like most people say, it is useless to regret something, right? You should not linger on an event you cannot change.

The psychological behaviors of humans are intertwined with motivation. When the desire to reach a goal overcomes the obstacles in the way, we learn to break barriers.

Regret comes from the unforgiving rigidity of the past. Aching for what you cannot change can become an extraordinary source of extrinsic motivation.

You swore to yourself, “I won't make the same mistake again”, and so, you pushed past your limits, you acted differently from before, because your regrets motivated you and moved you forward.

Regrets can fundamentally change your mind. The stronger it is, the stronger it affects you.

So look at the things you wish you did, look at the things you wish you didn't do. Don't let go of your regrets, grip onto them instead.

That, is how you grow.

20 of the World's Most Beautiful Untranslatable Words

By Andrea Reisenauer,

As every language learner probably knows, translating between two languages is no easy task. Each language has its own linguistic, grammatical and semantic complexities, and many ideas are simply "lost in translation."

The relationship between words and their meaning is a fascinating one. Linguists have spent decades deconstructing and studying words and their meaning and trying to discover why there are so many feelings and ideas that we can't put words to. Many languages are simply not able to capture the essence of the meaning of a word in another language and these words are often considered "untranslatable."

While there are thousands upon thousands of untranslatable words, today we're going to take a look at 20 of the most magical words that have no direct translation in English in 20 different foreign languages. These beautiful words provide a fascinating glimpse into foreign languages and cultures and the human condition itself.

1. Waldeinsamkeit

German

The German word waldeinsamkeit refers to the feeling of being alone in the woods, solitude, and a connectedness to nature. It consists of two words: "wald," meaning forest, and "einsamkeit," meaning loneliness or solitude. It hints at both the feeling of being alone in the woods and also at a peaceful oneness with nature.

2. Iktsuarpok

Inuit

Iktsuarpok refers to the feeling of anticipation when you're expecting someone that leads you to constantly check to see if they're coming. It's the impatient excitement for a visit that makes you look out the window countless times in hope of seeing your guest arrive.

3. Komorebi

Japanese

Komorebi is a Japanese word that refers to the sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees. The word is made up of three kanji and the hiragana particle れ. The first kanji means "tree" or "trees," the second kanji refers to "escape," and the third kanji means "light" or "sun."

4. Sobremesa

Spanish

Sobremesa is the Spanish word that refers to the time spent after lunch or dinner socializing with the people you shared the meal with. Meals are a very important part of the Spanish culture, and the Spanish people value the time spent relaxing and chatting after finishing eating. The Catalan equivalent is sobretaula.

5. Goya

Urdu

Goya is an Urdu word that refers to the transporting suspension of disbelief that happens when fantasy is so realistic that it temporarily becomes reality. It is usually associated with good, powerful storytelling.

6. Mångata

Swedish

This beautiful Swedish word refers to the road-like reflection of the moon on the water. It's the long, wavy shape that appears across the water when the moon is shining on it. It is made up of the prefixes "Måne" meaning moon, and "gata" meaning street/road. For this reason,  it is sometimes indirectly translated as "moon-path," "moon-river," "moon-track," or "moon-wake."

7. Saudade

Portuguese

Saudade refers to the feeling of longing for something or someone that you love which is lost. This feeling of emptiness, melancholy or nostalgia is often considered characteristic of the Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese temperament, although it also entered Galician Spanish with the same spelling. It carries with it the repressed knowledge that the object of longing may never return and was once described as "the love that remains" after someone is gone. It is a bittersweet, empty feeling of something or someone that is missing.

8. Kilig

Tagalog

The Tagalog noun kilig is often used in the Philippine culture to refer to the thrilling feeling of butterflies in your stomach that you typically feel when something romantic happens. When used as an adjective, it refers to the exhilaration a person feels during an exciting or romantic experience, such as catching your crushes' eye for the first time or watching a marriage proposal.

9. Hiraeth

Welsh

Hiraeth is a Welsh word that refers to homesickness mixed with grief and sadness over the lost or departed, or a type of longing for the homeland or the romanticized past. It represents a mixture of longing, nostalgia, wistfulness and yearning. The concept of hiraeth is considerably similar to the Portuguese saudade mentioned earlier, the Romanian dor, and the Ethiopian tizita.

10. Mamihlapinatapei

Yaghan

The word mamihlapinatapai (sometimes also spelled mamihlapinatapei) comes from the Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego. It refers to the wordless, meaningful look shared by two people who both want to initiate something, but are reluctant to do so. It also can refer to an unspoken but private moment shared by two people when each person knows the other understands and is in agreement with what is being expressed. Mamihlapinatapai is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "most succinct word" and is considered remarkably difficult to translate.

11. Hyggelig

Danish

This Danish word refers to a warm, friendly, cozy, delightfully intimate moment or thing. It gives off imagery of a candlelit winter evening at home with warm blankets and maybe a bit of alcohol. While there are similar words in German (gemütlichkeit), Swedish (gemytlig) and Norwegian (hyggelig), there is no direct translation in English.

12. Flâner

French

Perhaps one of the most Parisian of all French words, the verb "flâner" was defined in the 19th century by the Paris literary crowd. It refers to the art of leisurely strolling the streets of Paris without any goal or destination simply for the pleasure of soaking up the city's beauty. These aimless pedestrians are known as "flâneurs."

13. Ya'aburnee

Arabic

While the Arabic word ya'aburneeliterally means "you bury me," the concept it represents goes far deeper than that (no pun intended). Ya'aburneeis a way to declare your hope that your loved one will outlive you because of how unbearable it would be to live without them. It is a gorgeous, painful expression of desire to spare yourself the pain of a life without a person you love.

14. Ré nao (热闹)

Chinese

The Chinese word ré nao is usually translated as "lively" or "bustling," but its true meaning goes beyond these adjectives. A place or situation that is ré nao is not only fun and lively, but also has a special vibe that makes everyone want to be there. A lively, special bar or club may be ré nao, but so might a university class or meeting with friends.

15. Utepils

Norwegian

Utepils is a Norwegian word that literally translates to "outdoor lager." Utepils has taken on several different interpretations within Scandinavian culture and among beer drinkers worldwide throughout the generations, but it typically refers to the act of sitting outside on a sunny day enjoying a beer. It also may refer to the first beer you drink outside on a warm, sunny day, and is the (great) name of a brewing company.

16. Toska

Russian

The Russian word toska can be roughly translated to mean sadness or lugubriousness, but according to Lolita author Vladimir Nabokov, these English words don't come close to its real meaning. "No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody or something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom."

17. Jijivisha

Hindi

The Hindi word jijivisha refers to the strong, eternal desire to live and to continue living. It is usually used to talk about a person who loves life and always has intense emotions and desires to live and thrive.

18. Firgun

Hebrew

Firgun is a modern, informal Hebrew term and concept in Israeli culture that describes a generosity of spirit and the unselfish joy that something good has happened or might happen to someone else. Another possible definition describes firgun as a genuine, unselfish feeling of delight or pride in someone else's accomplishment. The infinitive verb form of the word, lefargen, means to make someone feel good without any ulterior motives.

19. Gezelligheid

Dutch

This Dutch word can be associated with the Danish concept of hyggelig and the German concept of gemütlichkeit, although its definition depends on the context. Gezelligheid refers to a convivial, cozy, or warm atmosphere, but can also refer to the warmth of being with loved ones, the feeling of seeing a friend after a long absence, or a general togetherness that provides a feeling of warmth. Many consider it the word that most closely encompasses the heart of Dutch culture.

20. Merak

Serbian

The Serbian word merak is a wonderful little word that refers to a feeling of bliss and the sense of oneness with the universe that comes from the simplest of pleasures. It is the pursuit of small, daily pleasures that all add up to a great sense of happiness and fulfillment.

All of these beautiful words defy direct English translation and provide a magical glimpse into different languages, cultures, and the human experience.

Hardest thing in life?

To confess that you love,
To get empathy in return,

To say a:
No to a dog,
Yes to an ex.
Why to an elder,
& How to someone too young.

To hang on,
To let go,
To move on,
To catch up.

To suck up,
To let down,
To stand up,
To turn down.

To speak up,
To slow down.
To step up,
To climb down.

To close down,
To shut down.
To fall down,
To lie down.

To break up,
To rise up.

To get up, when knocked down,
To fight hard and win.

To learn something new,
Discard something old.
Accept someone different,
And say bye to someone you loved.

To live without spending some dignity,
And to die without earning some friends.

Life is full of hard things to do, but the hardest is still, to just do nothing - to care about no one and to be someone you aren’t.

Sometimes all you need is that one smile to keep you going.

Your smile is contagious, no matter how angry or sad I am, all I need is to take one look at your smile and everything seems a little better

There’s always something good coming. Remember that

The meaning of the life is knowing your gift and purpose of the life is to give it away.

5 years later

It has been quite sometime, and given that blogger has integrated with Google. It was a tad bit complex logging onto the Android application using a non-google account.

But that had been worked out. And this is me saying "welcome back."

Hopefully , there should be a steady content written on this, unlike the previous one.

And yes, Manchester united has once again lifted the champions league trophy this year as well. ;)

#1

Another day lies ahead for the hidden hero, hiding in his own shadow...with unknown powers he wakes up to reality...to see the wind lashing across his face...he wakes up to find th fan on full speed...and his blanket has fallen off the bed..n the cold seems to be creeping in ...plunging him into the early hours of morning and away from his deep slumber..he rubs his eyes..to see his roommates lying dead sleep.like logs..dead to the early morning hours..he forces himself out of the comforts of the bed..and sets afoot to a less eventful and surprising day..he makes himself a cup of coffee to awake him to the mere reality of ktown!!!
sipping coffee and watching CHUCK,which he recently got on LAN and added to the endless collection of series obtained in ktown...
he realizes that he might be late for the morning counseling,he forces himself again to follow the monotonous regime of ktown(sadly we all wait for the one fine day when the rebellion has to begin.=p)
and gets out of the room just as the siren is rung.and starts the early morning sprint(one of the main fitness secrets here.!!) and reaches there just as the attendance sheet is to be handed and settles himself there for another 30 minutes.
and here he discovers his first ability ..to sleep no matter how loud the speakers may be blaring..the speech induces the power.hidden for long unknown to him..or anyone in ktown..but there was counter to it too..it could be used only till they'd sing the national anthem.(the patriotism was seen in the lad)
un-eagerly he heads for his classroom to killl the rest of the day there..fingers crossed hoping that none would pick on him today..

(to be continued..)

done with another sem.!!

Its now officially the end of SEM-III for us now...done are those nights spent watching the new movies (and series)that tend to come only when you seriously want to start your lessons and sitting up late talking about everything going on in the whole wide world but the book you have in your hand since the past 5 hours...well that was how we spent our study hour days...
every single one puttin at alarm starting from 8 pm that rings at an interval of an hour..since you'd b having your quick naps in between,as your break...asking each one on the floor to wake you up in an hour or to....and constantly reminding oneself the missions to attain before the day ends....
and once you are up from that nap of yours ...you wanna grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea to keep one going throughout the nights...the hidden bibles that come out from the corners of the drawers..brings out the saint in you..!!!
the night is long..but time passes so quickly that you wonder how fast it is that the semester is done..!
all that goals that you made to yourself after the last exam to do your daily lessons and keeping the notes n all complete...were all futile..but then the tremendous hardwork of somebody in the class who kept their word and completed their notes..were the only saviors at the end...as did the guy at the xerox shop who must have made himself a whopping profit at the end..!!
and at last we arrive at the first exam ...every one is nervous and it is seen clearly on their face..some people havn't even shaved..yet others look as if they have just arrived from the bed directly..anyways those 3 hours in the class and the pin drop silence...can kill you alive.....if you are seriously blank all you see around are people who just told you that they have left this and that(which incidentally has been asked in the paper)writing stories and stories....in the end you jus end up writing everything you know about the subject in about 15 pages(at the most)of the 45 page answer sheet and get out of the hall....
and you drag yourself to the canteen(which is now filled with people discussing their papers and all the things that they wrote..) to get a cup of coffee..
because -
1.your really hungry and thirsty..
2.reason 1.is beacause you've missed your break-fast and lunch..
3.you fish into your pocket to find out tat you've got only loose change left in them...
4.you just want to get out of the place..away from the crowd..!!

.. and you head towards your room
all the way to your room all you hear from people around is "HOW MUCH ARE YOU GETTING??"
"WROTE EVERYTHING right.?"
and you just hit the bed ..and drift off to sleep hoping it was just a dream..but then again you wae up wen it dinner time..and then the whole cycle repeats itself over again

5

after every semester we are given these couple of days..the so called as study leave..when everything apart from studying takes place..
its always the practical exams that come before the theory papers..and dis semester since they had introduced Internet for all the students .
it was way to good than all the previous ones.
it was last week that this firewall was updates..and guess what they call it..????
SERAPH...after a celestial being..and they've got these 2 routers named Micheal and Gabriel
after the two main arch angels of god..now the only thing that they need would be a virus called the Lucifer virus huh.???
now since they've uploaded the new virus it is so friggin not possible to upload anything or to download,
orkut has been blocked too,and so has facebook..last week there was they had blocked wikipedia: giving the reason as..nudity and sexual content..
oh come on..its an encyclopedia for crying out loud....
now it seems they don't want people to get into any personal relationships and heterosexual relationships
(are they trying to turn us into homosexuals..???)

the sem end

well this has brought to the end of another semester here in ktown ..
today was the last day of class (for the present semester..)
so tha day started off..as usual,me getting up at 8 30..well the day before i had all my plans set to make sure that i visit the mess atleast today...seeeing that i hadnt been there since the past 3 weeks..but what cud i do..the ever tempting sleep never wanted me to wake away from my deep state of euphoric glee....and so was my run to the assembly(as always)..
it was during the assembly that i began to wonder what would it be like if i hadnt come here..if i hadnt enrolled myself in this training.!!
what would have i ended up as.???
and then so did i drift into a train of thoughts..den the sudden announcement of standing up for the national anthem,it was, that brought me back to my seat..
the classes were pretty much boring as the teachers were done wid all the things they were entrusted with us(to quote one:"transfer of knowledge")..so the morning was just a drag..sitting in class just for the attendance thing..!!
it was then that someone in the group hit up on an idea..that since it was the last day why dont we come up with a class get together..it would be done as we hadnt done anything like that before..i wasnt quite sure whether to go in or not..but still gave in finally.
so the afternoon too was a drag...
our math madam invited us to her wedding ,which,by coincident falls on my birthday ,hehe...and then we spend the last of the time throwing stuff at ojo..it was fun pelting him with all the stuff we could lay our hands upon...(most of it being paper balls...haha)..and the math maam ended the day by asking one of us to close the day by a prayer(which was given by sharon )

we ended up taking photographs in the class untill the class mentor came to confiscate lankys cookie(LG-mobile)..i went with him too..but did not stay there long as there was nothing i could come up with to say...but eventually he got it from her..maybe she just gave him a warning and let him go..!!

then we met up in kfc..fer the "GET TOGETHER"..iut was pretty interesting(or fantabulous..should i say..)..
it was way better than the onam celebrations that was held way back in august..conducted by our seniors...=p
but then this was (i think) the first time that we had FUN..unlimited and without anyone to come and scold us for it...dis was the first time ever that we did something like this after one year.[but still we did it ! bet no other branch did anything like this..!!hehe..should say IT ROXX..=)]..
and then we had like whole lot fun with lots of other people coming out with all their hidden talents..it was to good to be missed..!!..
i should say: this is going to be one day etched in my mind for ..the next four years to go now.!!!
peace.
